Brenda Jo Greer
On February 11, 2019, Brenda Jo Greer passed away quietly at home, surrounded by her family, after battling Alzheimer’s for several years. Born in Laurens, SC on January 22, 1940, she was the youngest daughter of the late Mr. Charles W. Crain Sr. and the late Mrs. Imogene Pitts Crain. She is predeceased by brothers Mr. Charles W. Crain Jr. and David Lee Crain.
She is survived by her son, Mr. Christopher Allen Greer, daughter-in-law Claire Overton Greer and grandsons Phillip Samuel Greer of the home and Zachary David Greer. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Shirley Robertson, a niece Karen Blackmon (Keith), a great nephew Ben Blackmon, a niece Debra Foster, a great nephew Eric Foster, a great niece Jessica Ferguson, also great great nieces Michaela Weathers, Laela Foster and Alexandria Ferguson and a great great nephew Jayden Weathers.
Brenda was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and had been active in the Laurens community where she had served on the Laurens County Parks Commission for several terms. She retired from GE in 2001 and then helped run several family businesses.
Her final years were spent living in Simpsonville, SC with her son and family, where she enjoyed looking after the family pets, attending auctions and working in the yard.
A Life Celebration Service will be held 2:00pm on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Friendship Presbyterian Church located at 2094 Neely Ferry Rd. in Laurens SC by Pastor Robert D. Cathcart, Jr. A gathering will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall following the service and all are welcome.

Brenda will be missed by her family, present and missing. She was a pillar of her family and often fought to teach them right and wrong. The last few years of her life were tough and not always happy. But Brenda lives on with her spirit of generosity and love. Remember in the words of Brenda “if you feel that breeze on the back of your neck, it means I am an angel and I love you”.
