The Clinton Red Devils announced the hiring of Corey Fountain as its new football coach Friday morning. He replaces Andrew Webb, who was let go after last season.
Fountain, currently the head coach of Lamar High School, has led his team to winning seasons each of the last five years. His teams won region and upper state titles the last four years, and won SCHSL Class 1A Division II Championships in 2015 and 2017.
Fountain was has been previously recognized as Region Coach of the Year, SC High School Sports Report Regional Coach of the Year, Class A Upper State Coach of the Year, and SCHSL Coach of the Year.
“We are most fortunate to have Coach Fountain join the Red Devil family,” said District 56 Superintendent David O’Sheilds. “His experience, coupled with his love and passion for excellence, will serve Red Devil Nation well.”
Fountain received his Bachelor’s in business administration from North Greenville and a Masters of Education from Grand Canyon University. Fountain is married with two daughters and one son.
“I am blessed and honored to be a part of the Red Devil Family,” Fountain said. “I am excited about leading this football team and developing young men who will excel in school, on the football field, and in the community.”
