Lisa McCurry Rykard, 52, wife of Samuel Clay Rykard of 169 Lakewood Drive, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Bat Cave, NC, Lisa was a daughter of Bonnie Threatt McCurry of Waterloo and the late Art Freeman McCurry. A 1984 graduate of Laurens District High School, Lisa was employed with Laurens School District 55 Food Service Department and a former employee with Christy’s Gifts & More and McCarter’s Nursery and Garden Center. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church who enjoyed camping, loved animals, and children. She always had a very positive outlook on life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are her two daughters, Marah Kate Rykard of Laurens, Makayla Rykard Mason and husband Connor of Spartanburg; brother, Scott McCurry of Gray Court; sister, Cindy Burke and husband Ed of Laurens; father and mother- in- law, David “Skip” and Joyce Walsh Rykard of Laurens; brother-in-law, Kevin Rykard and wife Mary of Edmond, OK; sister-in-law, Michelle Evans and husband Dee of Manning, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at Hillcrest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ben Rumph, Dr. Greg Hellams, and Mr. Dee Evans with burial to follow in Westview Memorial Park.

The family will be at the home and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary on Saturday, February 2, 2019, from 5:00-7:00 PM.

    I am so very sorry to learn of Lisa’s passing. She was such a delightful person. I know she is celebrating in Heaven with her Grandmother Kate McCurry.
