Fire destroys Ware Shoals home, family assistance needed

A Ware Shoals family of seven lost all their possessions and the family dog was killed in a house fire that gutted their residence on North Greenwood Avenue Extension early Saturday afternoon.

Ware Shoals Fire-Rescue is working to help the family – Jorge Sanchez, Amanda Altman and their five children. The family moved to Ware Shoals from Ohio about a month ago, according to reports.

In addition to the home being rented by the family, the family’s belongings, including clothes and recent Christmas gifts were all destroyed.

Ware Shoals Fire-Rescue began collecting donations for the family early Sunday.

“Donations will continue to be collected for the family affected by fire throughout the week at Ware Shoals Town Hall. They are open from 8:30-5 each day, but will be closed for New Year’s Day,” the department posted on its Facebook page. “If you need specific information regarding sizes please refer to our initial post or message us here.
