Ruby Delia Taylor Evans

Ruby Delia Taylor Evans, age 92, widow of both Everett Ellison and Rayford Evans, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the Presbyterian Community of Clinton.

She was born in Hartford, Tenn., and was the daughter of the late James and Clara Augusta Henry Taylor.

Mrs. Evans is survived by her two sons, Jimmy Ellison (Cyndi) and Benny Ellison both of Clinton; her two daughters, Lynda Gambrell (Earl) of Clinton and Glenda Hunnicutt of Joanna: Step-children, Larry Evans and Ed Evans of Whitmire; her twelve grandchildren and her twenty-one great-grandchildren, and a nephew, Shannon Phillips of Hartford, Tenn.

In addition to her parents and her two husbands, she was the last surviving member of her family, and is also predeceased in death by her daughter, Brenda Ellison.

Known as Nanny Ruby to her family and all who knew and loved her, she greeted everyone with a smile and “Hey Honey”. She never judged or spoke unkind words. Ruby loved unconditionally.

Ruby retired from Whitten Center after 25 years. After retirement, through Senior Options of Laurens County, she went to work at Clinton Elementary School as a Foster Grandparent for Ms. Cheryl Owens 3rd grade classes for 13 years. She was honored in 2007 as Foster Grandparent of the Year. Ruby had a lifelong love of reading, and passed this love onto her children and grandchildren. Her passion for music was a great joy in her life.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Victory Worship Center in Clinton with burial at the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday before the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Victory Worship Center.
