Laurens-Clinton game time changed

The Laurens-Clinton varsity football game next Friday night will be starting later than expected.

The annual Laurens County Championship Game, originally slated for 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 24, will be moved to 8 p.m. due to a new SCHSL rule this year. The rule states if the heat index (or wet bulb reading) is 92.1 degrees or above, the players can’t be on the field. If the reading is between 87 and 92 degrees, players can’t be in pads – essentially making the playing of the game impossible.

Once the wet bulb temperature hits 86.9 degrees or lower, the players can play as normal.

There is no word on whether the JV game, slated for Thursday will be impacted. The current forecast from the Weather Channel for next Friday is partly cloudy skies and humid conditions, with temperatures in the mid 80s.
