Hickory Tavern, S.C. – Sara King Wasson, 97, wife of the late James D. Wasson Sr., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born in the Fork Shoals community of Greenville County.  Her parents were the late John Washington and Carrie Woodson King.

She attended Asheville Teachers College. She was a member of Friendship Presbyterian Church in Hickory Tavern for 77 years.  Sara’s love for the Lord and her faith were evident in her daily walk with Him. She was given different gifts: hosting home Bible studies, a prayer warrior, and helping others.  All of which she did for His honor and glory.  She will be remembered for her delicious meals, her beautiful flower gardens, and her devotion to her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 3, at Friendship Presbyterian Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
