Elaine Martin

Elaine Martin, 74, of 102 Coleman St., Laurens, S.C., passed away Monday, August 21, 2017, at Laurens County Memorial Hospital.

Born in Laurens, she was the daughter of the late Ellis F. Martin, Sr. and Sue Coleman Martin. A graduate of Laurens High School, Anderson College, and East Tennessee State University, she was a lifelong member and Sunday School teacher at First United Methodist Church of Laurens. Elaine was librarian at Laurens County Library for 57 years, where the Elaine Martin Local History Room was dedicated in her honor. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Laurens County Genealogical Society, and was a founding member of the Laurens County Museum Board.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 24, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. John Jordan and Rev. Alice MacKeil with burial in Laurens City Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at The Kennedy Mortuary.
