Rev. Reginal A. Hill

Rev. Reginal A. Hill passed away on Thursday morning, July 27, 2017, at his home in Laurens, S.C., following a long, valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born November 6, 1928, the son of the late Joseph Allen Hill Sr. and Quilla Amelia Still of Barnwell County, S.C.

Reginal served in Germany in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his discharge he attended USC under the GI Bill, earning a BA in English.  He married his wife after his sophomore year and upon graduation enrolled in Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., earning his M.Div. degree in 1960. He passionately loved his Lord, Jesus Christ, as he pastored churches in Virginia and South Carolina prior to appointment by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. As Missionary Church Planter he served in Trinidad and Bermuda, followed by a year of volunteer ministry in Barbados for a total of 26 years. After retirement he served as pastor for a church in Fountain Inn, S.C.  His second retirement gave opportunity to serve as Interim Pastor for several churches in the Low Country of S.C. His last years were spent in Independent Living at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community in Laurens, where he was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at First Baptist Church with burial in Graceland East Memorial Park with Military Honors.

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary, Saturday, July 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
