Laurens 11-12s eliminated from state tournament

The Laurens 11-12 Little League All-Star baseball team saw its postseason run come to a sudden end Wednesday night in the state tournament.

Laurens saw an early 1-0 lead slip away as Tega Cay-Fort Mill scored twice in the fourth and twice in the fifth, then saw its sixth-inning rally come up just short in a 4-3 loss in an elimination game in Taylors. The loss ends Laurens’ state championship hopes one game short of a spot in the championship round.

Alex Laws provided the only run of the game for Laurens with a solo homer in the top of the second inning. Laurens left six runners on base, including one in the top of the sixth after an RBI triple from Brayden Simmerman and a run-scoring single from Jackson Martin.

TC-FM advanced to play Greenville in the championship round, starting Thursday.
