Laurens 11-12s open state tourney with victory
The Laurens 11-12 Little League Baseball All-Star team used a pair of five-run innings to open a lead the Darlington squad could not make up in Saturday’s opening round of the state tournament in Taylors, helping Laurens roll to a 14-5 victory.
With the victory Laurens moves into Sunday’s winner’s bracket game against Tega Cay-Ft. Mill, which had a bye. Darlington will play the loser of Sunday’s Summerville-Greenville game on Monday night.
Mason Hamby (triple) and Griffin Abell (double) each scored three times, while Hamby went two innings on the mound to help Laurens’ cause. Hamby struck out three and did not allow a batter to reach.
