Dr. John Pitts Brown Jr.
Dr. John Pitts Brown Jr., of Lake Toxaway, N.C., passed away June 11, 2017. He was born in Laurens, S.C., to the late John Pitts Brown and Margaret Wright Brown Barnett.
He graduated from Laurens High School and attended The Citadel before joining the United States Navy in World War II. He graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1950. He later graduated from The Medical University of South Carolina and completed his internship and residency at The Medical University of South Carolina and The University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital.
He practiced Internal Medicine and Cardiology in Vero Beach, Fla. In 1977, he attended The Royal Infirmary in Glasgow, Scotland, and then practiced Rheumatology until his retirement to Lake Toxaway, N.C.
