PC baseball falls short of tourney title

The Presbyterian College baseball team came up just short of a Big South Tournament title Sunday in Lexington, losing 9-2 to Radford in the tournament final. The loss ends PC’s season with a record of 32-29 – marking the team’s first winning season since going to Division I.

After exchanging runs in the fourth inning, Radford scored six runs on five hits and two Presbyterian errors in the fifth to blow the game open. Ryan Hedrick, who came on in relief in the fourth inning for the Blue Hose, suffered the loss. He gave up six runs on five hits in two-thirds of an inning. Only one of the six runs were earned. Hedrick also walked one and struck out one.

Kyle Zurak, who was named tournament MVP, went the distance for the Highlanders. Zurak allowed six hits and one walk, striking out nine.

Nick Guimbarda, Tyler Weyenberg, Nick Wise and Hayden Deal were all named to the all-tournament team.
