Laurens names 3 new coaches; Patterson gets baseball full-time

The Laurens Raiders’ athletic department wrapped up the search for two head varsity coaches Thursday, while also naming the replacement for another who left for personal reasons.

Tori Patterson, who had been the interim head coach following the departure of Dale Nelson late last year, was named the permanent coach. Patterson led the Raiders to a 19-7 record and second-place finish in Region 2-5A.

Haley Register will replace the retiring Butch Clark as softball coach of the Raiders. Register was most recently the head coach at Wade Hampton, and graduated from Catawba College in 2013. She formerly played for Clark, and will be joined on staff by assistant Megan Evans, a 2011 graduate of Laurens High.

And Caroline Culbertson moves up from her role as JV head volleyball coach and will be the new varsity head coach, replacing Diane Raabe.

Look for more details on the hires in Wednesday’s edition of The Laurens County Advertiser.
