Clinton boys’ tennis denied state title
The Clinton boys’ tennis team saw its state championship dreams end one victory short of the ultimate goal.
Defending state champion Hanahan, in a match delayed three days due to weekend rain, overpowered Clinton in the Cayce Tennis Center to pick up a 6-0 victory and win the SCHSL Class 3A title Tuesday evening.
Clinton picked up only one set in the six matches contested as the No. 2 team of Anders Orr and Zack Bedenbaugh forced its match to a third set super tie-breaker before falling 10-6 in the final set.
The match was the final one as a Red Devil for Robert Powell, the only senior on Clinton’s roster this year.
