Shooting suspect surrenders, denied bond

David Jerome Butler

A Simpsonville man is in Laurens County’s Johnson Detention Center and facing attempted murder charges after surrendering to authorities Monday.

David Jerome Bulter, 43, remained at large over the weekend following an early morning shooting Friday at the YanFeng Manufacturing plant in Fountain Inn. Butler was taken into custody by Simpsonville Police and transferred to the Johnson Detention Center in Laurens County where he was denied bond Tuesday afternoon.

Two people were injured in the incident, which occurred just before 6 a.m. Friday.

The two victims were located in the plant, removed from the building and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton Public Safety and Greenville County SWAT teams searched for Butler in the plant but were unable to locate him. He remained at-large over the weekend and was considered “armed and dangerous” by local authorities.
