Main Street Laurens offers Casino Night This Thursday

Main Street Laurens will hold its first Casino Night, which is open to the public, on Thursday, March 23, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the new Laurens County Museum on the Historic Square.

For $10 a ticket for Main Street Laurens members and $20 for non-members, participants will get a dinner of heavy hors d’oeuvres, an available cash bar and $50,000 in “fun” money to play the casino games. A Charlotte-based company will bring in blackjack tables, Texas Hold ‘Em, a roulette table and the Big 6 Money Wheel, along with dealers to run the games. The casino-theme parties have been used as back-to-school events at Lander University and several area people had played them at conferences.

Irick is quick to point out that the event is all in fun. The $50,000 per person is pretend money provided by the company.

“No actual money will change hands because in South Carolina that’s not legal,” Irick said. “We will probably have a trophy for the biggest winner and maybe even a prize for the one who loses their money the fastest because we are just wanting to offer a fun evening where you can come play real casino games, and you won’t have to actually lose any of your own money.”

Tickets are available for purchase by phone at 864-984-2119, coming in person to the Main Street Laurens office downstairs in the Historic Courthouse Square or by emailing Irick at mail@mainstreetlaurens.org.
