Waterloo principal moved to district post

Taria McIntosh
Waterloo Elementary School Principal Taria McIntosh (nee Taria Stokes) is being transferred to a district-level position effective for the remainder of the school year, according to a press release Friday afternoon from Laurens School District 55.
Jennifer Abercrombie, who is currently assistant principal at E.B. Morse Elementary will take over as interim principal at Waterloo. Debbie Bishop, currently an instructional coach, will assume Abercrombie’s former duties at E.B. Morse.
According to the release, McIntosh, who has been Waterloo’s principal for the past five years, will assume “responsibilities in the area of testing as a resource for all Laurens County School District 55 schools and test coordinators.
“With the testing cycle drawing near, we wanted to ensure that we had sufficient personnel resources in place to meet the rigorous demands of the testing process,” LCSD 55 Superintendent Dr. Stephen Peters said. “Ms. McIntosh will be able to effectively use her experience in support of our Director of Testing and Accountability, Dr. Ameca Thomas, and all of our schools.”
Neither Peters nor district spokesman Ed Murray could immediately be reached for further comment.
