Clinton basketball picks up host of honors

The Clinton boys’ basketball team was honored by Region 3-3A voters as head coach Silas Romines was named Coach of the Year, while three players made the all-region team – including Region Player of the Year Jalen Carter.

Carter averaged 15.1 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game for the Red Devils, who won the region title with a perfect 10-0 record. Teammate Zay Hurley was voted third-best player in the region, averaging 16.1 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.

Another Red Devil, Tymori Tribble, also made the cut. Tribble averaged 8.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.

Romines, who was in his first season as head coach, led the squad to the Upper State final before falling to Southside last Saturday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
