Laurens School District 56 Assistant Superintendent David Pitts will remain at his current post after becoming a finalist for the top job at Greenwood District 52.
Pitts, who also serves on the Laurens County Council, was among three finalists for the position, which went to Ninety Six High School Principal Rex Ward Monday night. Ward has been principal at Ninety Six, which is in Greenwood District 52, for the past eight years.
Julie Fowler, deputy state superintendent for college and career readiness, was also a finalist for the position along with Pitts and Ward. Fowler was also a finalist this past year for the Laurens District 55 superintendent’s post.
