Raiders score impressive sweep

The Laurens Raiders’ varsity basketball teams picked up solid victories Friday night against visiting Woodruff.

In the girls’ game, Laurens got 29 points from Cali Heisey and 14 points from Ke’Ny-Ja Spurgeon as the Raiders won their third straight game, 67-53, over the Wolverines. The victory moved the Raiders to 4-2 on the season.

As for the girls’ game, Laurens poured on the offense and cranked up the defense, using a 45-point turnaround to fuel a 77-43 rout for its second straight victory. Laurens is now 2-5.

Braylen McBeth led the Raiders with 18 points.

Laurens hosts a doubleheader Tuesday against Byrnes.
