Laurens football earns 6 all-region picks; Liner top coach

The Laurens Raiders’ football team had six players named to the annual all-region team, which was announced Monday, while head coach Chris Liner was named the Region 2-5A Coach of the Year.

Jalin Walker, Hunter Medlin, Summie Carlay, D.Q. Floyd, Taviar HIll and Braylin McBeth were all honored with selection to the all-region team. The six picks from Laurens’ roster tied Greenwood for the most of any team in the region.

Liner led the Raiders to a 4-1 region season to finish in a tie for the region title, but won a tie-breaker with Greenwood after beating the Eagles in the regular-season finale to claim the first region title in two decades.

Laurens advanced to the second round of the playoffs before falling to Spartanburg.
