Raiders’ season ends in loss

The Laurens Raiders’ football team had its 2016 season come to an end Friday night with a 35-17 loss to the Spartanburg Vikings, in the second round of the SCHSL Class 5A playoffs, at K.C. Hanna Stadium in Laurens.

The loss ends Laurens’ season with a record of 6-6.

Troy Dendy and D.Q. Floyd each had rushing touchdowns for the Raiders, who were shut out in the second half by the Vikings’ defense. Spartanburg’s defense helped its own cause when Connor Shugart returned an interception 85 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to effectively put the game out of reach.
