Clinton removes interim tag from Webb
Andrew Webb is no longer the “interim head football coach” at Clinton High School. He’s now simply the head football coach.
David O’Shields, Laurens District 56 Superintendent, made the announcement in a press release Tuesday afternoon. In the statement O’Shields said Webb had done all and more asked of him as interim coach, a title he took on after the dismissal of Scott King following the 2014 season.
“I am encouraged with the direction the team is taking and I am proud to announce, effective immediately, Coach Webb as Head Football Coach at Clinton High,” O’Shields said.
In two seasons as interim head coach, Webb has gone 8-13, including a 5-5 regular season record this past year. This season Webb picked up a season-opening victory over Laurens, and also finished tied for second in the Region 3-3A standings to earn a playoff spot.
